What is faith?  I have studied about it and thought I had an adequate understanding. I have experienced it and thought I have been granted a fairly assured footing.  And I have been even tested for it and felt I have not totally failed.

Last night, however, in my searchingly prayerful moments, I received a special gift that made me richer.

It was a gift of faith.

“专一注目為我們信心創始成終的耶穌”  Heb 12:2

这里这个 “专一注目”，在和合本中被译为 “仰望”，但实际上这个词不是圣经里其他地方提到的 “仰望” , 而是一个不同的词，是指不看其他一切，专注看一人或一事。

使徒保罗的这句话尤其特别，因为他刚讲了“我们既有这许多的见证人，如同云彩围着我们，” 却在同一个句子里（不是一个转折，而是下半句的自然链接）说我们要 “专一注目耶稣” 。[……]

“竭力追求。。。努力面前的，向着标杆直跑。。。”  腓立比书 3:12-14。

“你们要安息，要知道我是 神。”  诗篇 46:10。

我们如何能够即竭力往前，又安息呢？有弟兄说的好，我们是“手忙心不忙“。

但同时，我们读 神的话，要小心不被字句所捆绑。神的话在灵意里，不在字句里。死抠字眼抠不出生命来。词汇本身常有模糊性的局限，需要上下文和场景的限制才清楚。

“竭力往前”（go on，press on) 是指着我们跟随主的经历，因为主是工作的主，祂总在往前走，我们就得跟上；但“安息”，或安静（be still）是指我们在主里面时，我们生命的状态，一个不受世界搅扰的状态。

叫了这个标题，心里踌躇，因为 “大” 这个词，是一个含糊的词，甚至有点被俗气化（不是这个词本身的问题，而是风气的问题）。

然而我们认识基督后，发现我们一生都在发现基督之大，不仅是基督身位的尊大，也有基督里生命和知识的广大，既丰富又广阔。

认识基督之大，是我们信心的内涵。这地上唯有认识基督的人，才明白 “自信（confidence）” 和 “信心（faith)” 之间的区别。

T. Austin Sparks 弟兄曾说 “我們不能滿足于自己里面那個小小的、我們感到能完全理解和有把握的基督。”

我们要允许我们来到一种的光景，发现一切已经超出我们，不再由得了我们，唯有主。这是正面的道理，不是[……]

弟兄指的是神的儿女不可随同今世的风俗，否则就失去了生命的能力。

我们可能会比较容易想到如果随同今世的风俗我们会失去见证，但不常想到会失去生命的能力。

神儿女身上一切的力量，都是来自神的属灵的生命力量，而生命的力量有一个根本特征，就是其 “差异化” 的能力 （或者更准确说就是差异化的客观状态）。

我们平常喊主啊，主啊，但并不总能感到或记得他是我们至亲的亲属。

他是我们的约瑟。他真的爱我们，不是因为我们好，而是因为我们是他的弟兄。

在我的基督徒生活中，最矛盾和令人困扰的经历之一是发现一个基督徒会有属灵的骄傲。这种所谓骄傲的存在本身就是令人困惑的，因为 “属灵”和“骄傲”不应该能够同时存在。

仇敌的诡计

骄傲作为一种人类行为很常见，是罪恶人性最基本的方面之一。但属灵的骄傲则更难理解，更难应对。

我们很容易断言，任何导致骄傲的属灵启示都不是真正的属灵启示。然而，现实生活中的经历告诉我们，事情远比这复杂得多。

经常，你会在那些拥有深厚属灵知识的人身上看到可怕而伤人、伤害基督身体的骄傲。这些人的属灵知识如此深厚而令人钦佩，但他们显然而且伤人地骄傲、轻视和自大，以至于挑战了“骄傲” 这个词的正常定义。

One of the most paradoxical and troubling experiences I have had in my Christian life is the existence of spiritual pride.

Pride as a human behavior is common, and is a very basic aspect of sinful human nature.  But spiritual pride is much harder to understand, and even harder to deal with.

It’s easy to categorically say that any spiritual revelation that leads to pride is not true spiritual revelation. The real life experience, however, tells you that it’s far more complicated than that.

Often, you see terrible and hurtful pride in some men and women who have such profound spiritual knowledge.  The spiritual knowledge demonstrated by such individuals are so profound and admirable, yet the person is so evidently and hurtfully prideful, condescending, and self-important, it challenges a normal definition of “pride”.

神的观点

神的话中，有关男人和女人的关系，有两个很不同的着眼点, 需要分别认识。

第一个是关乎丈夫和妻子的关系，这里 神所强调的不是一般的道德层面， 也不是个人的行为本身，而是夫妻关系在 神的定规中的圣洁，因为这个关系代表着宇宙中重要的关系，即基督和他的教会之间的关系， 这是极大的奥秘。 世人不能明白。

第二个是个人道德层面的，虽然也常常和婚姻有关，但着眼点是个人行为和个人的圣洁。 这一点大部分的人靠良心和直觉都知道许多。
